Today I am going to step away from my story for a minute and focus on a something that I read on Twitter that really disturbed me. I saw an article on Twitter about "Stop Porn Peddlers From Tweeting Disney and Hardcore Porn to kids". Obviously I had to check this out . . . . . I have 2 kids and that title really freaked me out!
So, the article claims that porn sites are setting up fake accounts using search terms like Disney, Tinkerbell and The Mysterious Woods (Tink's new movie), Toy Story and even Justin Beiber. The account has a picture of a young child on it to lure kids in to click on the links provided. Once they do that they are redirected to a hardcore porn site.
Also, not only do the profile pics show a young child they sometimes bring up explicit pics of women which again link to hardcore porn.
So, I decided to check this out . . . see what the buzz is all about. If this is the case then we as parents need to be AWARE.
First, I tested the search terms #Tinkerbell and The Mysterious Woods and #Toy Story (# in front of a word is a twitter thing - a hashtag which narrows your search). I couldn't believe what came up . . . pics of such sweet, smiling and happy kids. Then inside the tweet was a link to EXTREMELY HARDCORE PORN! I was shocked!
I couldn't believe it was that easy (I knew it was easy for adults but I guess I am naive about how easy it is for kids). Now, we all know that I am married to a sex addict so it takes A LOT to shock me but this really did. Inside the porn site I saw a pics of girls with a certain bodily fluid all over their face, girls tied up - pretty intense S&M bondage, group sex (by group sex I mean 1 girl with many guys), and the worst one was, and I quote " Couples seduce Teen". Oh yeah, that one came from the profile that I got by searching #bad bieber . . .Seriously!
Next, I decided to search the term disney porn and also just porn. OMG!!!!! Many of the profile pics were XXX PORN. Girls half nude, completely nude and touching themselves. I saw one girl (as described in the article) laying down legs spread with duct tape on her mouth and boobs. This was a PROFILE PIC! I didn't think you could do that in a profile pic. Also, the Tweets that these accounts come up with are just NASTY . . . and everyone can see it (not juts your followers - and that means kids)!
Now, I am not knocking the porn industry (although I think we have proven the negative effects it has on our addicted spouses - but we aren't going there now) but 13 years olds are allowed to have accounts. That is my biggest issue . . . You don't even need to birthdate to sign up for a Twitter account. What is to stop a child with an email address to open one themselves???? I really don't want my kids seeing that if I can help it!
So, what I am saying is this . . . I'm glad I came across that article because I HAD NO IDEA you can access these things on social media sites! It has been proven that viewing hardcore porn is REALLY bad for kids! Technology is great but it opens the door to some stuff that we have to try really hard to understand the dangers. We parents need to be aware of this with all the technology that young kids have these days.
And as spouses of sex addicts we know first hand the dangers of this kind of PORN and how it can destroy people!
